Hey guys and gals, I hope your winter is going great so far, that you are doing lots of ice fishing or you are living somewhere nice and don't get the cold winters like I do! (Although I wouldn't trade if I could hehe).
My goal this year is to make lots and lots of video! I have a lot of fun on camera, and I enjoy being creative and editing as well!
I need your input on what kind of fishing videos you would like to see me make this year??
An exciting thing happened for me this week, I was asked to begin writing fishing reports for a great local website! I wrote my first report on my ice fishing adventure from a few weeks ago and it has been posted here: http://timeonthewater.org/index.html
If you check it out, please sign the guestbook at the bottom of the page if you can. This is a wonderful website that has covered our Quinte Bassmaster's kids events and local conservation clean-ups.
This past Sunday I had the chance to get out ice fishing with the Quinte Ice Fishing Team in the Bay of Quinte, Ontario, Canada. In my entire life I had only been out ice fishing about 4 times in total, and never pulled a fish through the ice. This fact changed on Sunday as I pulled 5 walleyes through.. and even some perch!
Who says you can't catch anything while ice fishing?!
I learned so much from Jeff, who I had the opportunity to share a hut with and get lots of instructions and tips. He has ice fishing mastered and knows how to get walleye not only biting, but in my arms for nice photo/video opportunities which is one of my favourite things! There was a group of us out there, and I filmed as well. Every so often I would hear 'ASHLEY!' and I would bolt out of my hut and start filming the latest catch!
It was a lot of fun, and I also did an interview with the guides. They were a great bunch and I can't wait to get out there again!!
Take a look at the video to see my first fish through the ice.. and my biggest at around 10 pounds!!
I have decided to separate my blog into 2 parts; fishing and photos. I know a lot of you fishermen and fisherladies are interested in the fishing aspect, but if you would like to follow my photography as well please click the link:
Hello readers, I hope you had a wonderful holiday and are ready to ring in the new year!! I will be celebrating in Niagara Falls, Ontario for the second year in a row. They have a wonderful free outdoor event featuring live music and fireworks, etc. There is so much to do in Niagara, if you ever have the chance to visit - take it! Stay tuned for photos and possibly videos!
I would like to try and make my blog more interactive, so I am going to ask for YOUR input!
Do you have a new years resolution this year?
What do you look forward to in 2010?
I will post my resolutions as well. Happy New Year!
This summer I will be participating in a very big tournament that's hitting Kingston, Ontario, Canada. It's called the Kingston Canadian Open of Fishing, and it's happening on July 22, 23 and 24, 2010.
The event is hosted by Shimano and I will have the chance to share the water with anglers that I look up to such as; Bob Izumi, Dave Mercer, JP DeRose and many more.. they have not yet announced all the pros. I am very excited!!! I'll be entering as a co-angler. Usually at such a big event I am sitting in the audience snapping photos, but this time I will be out on the water competing against some of Canada's best anglers!
I am hoping to do some filming during the event as I would like to share the anglers point of view in a large tournament. I am used to fishing Quinte Bassmasters tournaments with around 11-17 boats, but this event will have 80 boats! I am really looking forward to it!
